Funny Mormon Joke

After getting Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley's entire
luggage loaded into the limo, the driver notices that
the LDS Prophet is still standing on the curb.

"Excuse me, President," says the driver, "Would you
please take your seat so we can leave?"

"Well, to tell you the truth," says the Prophet, "they
never let me drive at the Church Office Building, and
I'd really like to drive today."

"I'm sorry but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my
job! And what if something should happen?" protests
the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that
morning.

"There might be something extra in it for you," says
the Prophet.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the
Prophet climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly
regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport,
the Lord's Annointed floors it, accelerating the limo
to 105 mph.

"Please slow down, President!!! " pleads the worried
driver, but the Prophet keeps the pedal to the metal
until they hear sirens.

"Oh, dear, I'm gonna lose my license," moans the
driver.

The Prophet pulls over and rolls down the window as
the cop approaches but the cop takes one look at him,
goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.

"I need to talk to the Chief," he says to the
dispatcher.

The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that
he's stopped a limo doing a hundred and five.

"So bust him," says the Chief.

"I don't think we want to do that, he's really
important," said the cop.

The Chief exclaimed, "All the more reason!"

"No, I mean really important," said the cop.

The Chief then asked, "Who ya got there, the Mayor?"

Cop: "Bigger."

Chief: "Governor?"

Cop: "Bigger."

"Well," said the Chief, "Who is it?"

Cop: "I think it's God!"

Chief: "What makes you think it's God?"

Cop: "He's got President Hinckley as his chauffeur!!"

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I hope everyone has a happy, safe, and stress free thanksgiving!!!!

Happy Turkey Day!

One year

One year ago today at 2pm, I was baptized in Pacifica,CA. Wow, I can't believe how fast the year has gone by, so much has happened. In this past year I've learned alot, but I still have alot to learn. I am so happy that I made the choice that I did, I don't know how I would have made it through some of the rough patches if it weren't for the gospel in my life. Also I am so thankful for my "sisters" who have held me up, when I felt like I was drowning, and guided me when I couldn't find my way. And finally to "my baby sis", my heart broke when you told me you would be leaving (tears), god puts people in the right place, at the right time, for the right reason. He knew I needed you. I hope I have been as good a friend to you as you have been to me. I love you and wish you guys the best, guess it's time for a new adventure.
I don't have any pictures from my baptism, but here are a few that I found inspiring.

I know why the caged bird sings....

Another poem I enjoy

I know why the caged bird sings.....

A free bird leaps on the back
Of the wind and floats downstream
Till the current ends and dips his wing
In the orange suns rays
And dares to claim the sky.

But a BIRD that stalks down his narrow cage
Can seldom see through his bars of rage
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
Of things unknown but longed for still
And his tune is heard on the distant hill for
The caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through
The sighing trees
And the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright
Lawn and he names the sky his own.

But a caged BIRD stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with
A fearful trill of things unknown
But longed for still and his
Tune is heard on the distant hill
For the caged bird sings of freedom.

I've been tagged

Okay, I 've been tagged by Suzie. Thanx, I think.
Rules:
1.The player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves - try to find 6 you haven't already posted about!
2. At the end of the post, the player tags 6 people and posts their names, and then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog for the rules.
***************************************************************************
here it goes:
1- I used to play the flute when I was little. Only in elementary school though, the band class was too full in jr high. I hate to brag but, I was good, and I still have my flute.
2- I was hit by a car when I was 14 y/o (1 month and 24 days before my 15th b-day). I had a broken leg, arm, and dislocated shoulder. After being discharged from the hospital, since we didn't have a car I had to be transported to and from all of my appointments by ambulance.
3- I used to take dance classes when I was little, I even performed in some parades (juneteenth & cinco de mayo) here in SF and Richmond.
4- I am afraid of dogs. When I was younger I would completely freak out if I spotted a dog as far as 2 blocks away (we're talking crying, screaming, running, practically climbing up my moms back)- I've gotten much better now. This is weird because not only did I grow up around dogs, but I hope to get a dog some day.
5- I used to really dislike when I was younger my mom, aunts, and/or Ganny would lick their finger (usually the thumb) and use their saliva to clean my face. I still thinks that's GROSS!!!
and finally
6- I can't stand pancakes. We had to eat them sooo much when I was younger, breakfast, lunch, snack, and yes dinner too. Even the smell makes me nauseous.

So that's it!!! I hope I didn't bore anyone too much, this was my first tag.
Now I tag Courtney, Cara, Kathryn, April, Emily and Jen.

November Awareness

It's November, and there are many causes out there to support many things. Here are a few...

***National Adoption Awareness Month***
Adoption.org
-did you know that Robert Rey aka dr 90210, was rescued and adopted by american missionaries from his native Brazil....

***National Lung Cancer Awareness Month***
www.lungcanceralliance.org
-my great uncle passed from lung ca, for some reason lung ca is difficult to catch in it's early stages. And by the time you're diagnosed there isn't much the doctors are able to do.

***Prostate Cancer Awareness Month***
www.fightprostatecancer.org
-I don't know much about this. I believe it's hard to catch, and it goes hand in hand with colon cancer. I know this because after being diagnosed with colon cancer the doctors wanted to check my uncle for prostate cancer. I don't think he ever did it though :{

***Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month***
www.pancan.org

***National Alzheimers Awareness Month***
www.alz.org/

***American Diabetes Awareness Month***
www.diabetes.org
-Unfortunately, I'm seeing first hand the effects of diabetes. And not only am I at risk because diabetes runs in my famiy. But my chances for diabetes double because I have extra weight, and because of my nationality. I guess that means my chance are triple not double.

And finally kudos to Jenny M for completing her 1st marathon. Jenny ran the nike 26 mile marathon in honor of a friend living with cancer. Wow!!! How awesome is that!!!!

Friendship is the golden thread that ties all hearts together. - Unknown

A genius has emerged!!!!

Before starting my own blog, I checked out some of my friends blogs to get ideas. I was actually more excited about all the different templates I could use to design my blog, than I was about the blog itself. Well, I finally figured out how to do it. Yes, allll this time I have been trying to figure out how to change my template. I went online and found the one I wanted, copied the code and NOTHING!!!!!! I kept getting errors. Like I said it has taken me a month to figure this out because I kept getting frustrated,we're talkin hours wasted!!! Now, I'm the type of person that tries to figure things out on my own before asking for help. Besides I felt really silly after asking Suzie to help me add videos (ie ray lewis tribute- yeah I got alittle excited, overkill I know), only to find out how simple it really was.
So what was I doing wrong? I kept hitting preview before saving my changes!!!!! Duh
And I only figured this out after fasting (no I wasn't fasting help with my blog LOL), and watching the nativity story. Talk about the power of the holy spirit (j/k)!!!!
But anyway, yes, I'm kicking myself and laughing. I just have one more thing to figure out about this blog thing and I'm set.

And congrats to Elise, Ryan & Claire on the arrival of little Andrew (10/25-8lbs;15oz;21in)!!!!!

One Busy V

Wow!!! October sure did come and go fast. Or maybe as the old saying goes "time flys when you're having fun". Lately I have felt a great desire to be with my friends, and spend as much time with them as possible. Here are a few pics from our adventure to marine world aka discovery kingdom. And for the record marine world is WAAAAYYYY cooler than great america!!!!!

I don't know if you can tell but the aminals we're my favorite.

Video Tribute to Ray Lewis- I love this guy!!!

Under Siege

Earlier today, as I was relaxing from an action packed day at work. I noticed an object fly across my room. At first I thought maybe it was a shadow from a bird or something that flew past the window outside. But no. To my horror it was inside my apartment!!! And whatever this thing was it landed on my covers with a "thud". When I jumped to run, barely holding in my scream (I didn't want it to fly in my mouth) it flew away, I noticed a flapping sound of it's wings. After composing myself, I found old magazine heavy (I would have preferred a baseball bat) enough (I think) to do battle with this "thing", I went in search of the "thing". Unfortunately, I was unable to find it. Hopefully, it flew out of one the windows. But in the event that it didn't, I've decided that I'm going to stay awake all night (unitl I feel safe again) just in case it tries to attack me while I sleep. So what's a girl to do at 1 o'clock in the morning? Update her blog of course!!!

Phenomenal Woman

Phenomenal Woman- is one of my favorite poems that I thought I'd share, it also expresses my mood at the moment.

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

This is why I avoid gyms

Welcome

I after much peer pressure, I created a blog. Originally on myspace, but I have friends and family that are just terrified by myspace. Which brings us to the blogspot. I always thought I would never have anything to say on a blog, but after myspace I discovered the blogger within. This is a little more complex to learn than myspace. But I have alot of ideas and things I'd like to share so just bare with me, while I get this figured out.

October Awareness

October is one of my favorite months for many reasons, indian summer, baseball play offs, and also because it the month that we try to bring awareness to two organizations that are close to my heart.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month- it's never OK!!!
check out this website for more info:
www.ncadv.org/takeaction/DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth

Also,
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month-yes it can happen to you. And BTW men get breast cancer too. Ignorance is our worst enemy.
check out this website for more info:

someone once said:
if you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything.........

PLACES NOT TO GRUB

To truly appreciate the good, you must experience the bad. So here are some restaurants that recommend you avoid, due to bad service or food, sometimes both.

Gordon Biersch (garlic fries!!) -this had to be removed from the favorite list, because roaches are NEVER okay. Even if the restaurant is near the bay, as the waitress tried to explain.

La Carreta-the food was just gross

Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers (why would I order a hamburger when I don't eat beef?? I ORDERED CHICKEN- someone should tell the staff not to argue with the customers)

Hooters(I was actually excited to go here, I heard all the hype-I don't appreciate being called "sweetie" by the 18 y/o waitress- I have bras older than you little girl) I wings are all I ever hear about, and they weren't great, heck they weren't even good!!

Galinas (would have been great if my pork chop had been cooked all the way- might have to give them a second chance)

Asqew Grill (haight st)- why don' t they ever have bread!!!!!

Giordano Bros- just YUCK

Gordos (geary st) just rude!!!

Chevy's (3rd st- again I ordered CHICKEN NOT BEEF!!!!) I say hard tacos they bring soft

Peters Cafe- my family loves this place, I've been here twice, sorry fam the food here is gross!!! I'd rather not eat. But the staff is really nice.

Panchos (geary st) how do you manage to mess up mexican food? It's not brain surgery guys. And they are really nice if you're half naked.....

His Lordships- again I was excited to go here so my mom surprised me and brought me here for my b-day weekend. First of all let me just say I hate buffets. The food was nasty, the waitress took offense to the fact that I didn't eat the slop. But really how do you mess up chicken? I felt bad for my mom cause she tried. But the juice was tasty

Da Hukilau (SF)- 1st of all it's not really a restaurant, it's a bar with tables. There is NOTHING hawaiian about this place except the picture of a hawaiian lady hanging on the wall and the surf board on the wall above the bar. The menu had hawaiian style food but it was gross too. And to top it off the band didn't even show up, which was the main reason why we went there.

PLACES TO GRUB

People are always asking if I know of any good places to eat. So I thought I'd compose a list of some my favorite restaurants. There is no particular order.

Zona Rosa- Alex and Veronica are the best!! What more can you expect from someone named Veronica
Patxi's Chicago Style Pizza
Chevy's (2 embarcadero)
Bella's Pizza
Pasquele's Pizza (9th ave)
Buca Di Beppo
Asqew Grill (california st)
El Faro (ssf)
La Corneta (glen park)-the pollo is kinda salty, but still good
Schroeder's (front st)
Cha Cha Cha
Popeyes (if you go to the one on divisadero make sure they give you all your food, so you don't have to go back)
Picadilly's fish and chips (polk & pine (the best in sf)
Puerto mex (concha!!) (richmond)
Hardrock cafe
Little Lucca Sandwich shop (busy but good) (ssf)
The Cheesecake Factory
Sushi Boom
Friday's (san bruno)
Chili's
Eclipse Cafe
Pepitos (richmond)
