We preach peace and resolution
Claiming that’s the solution
People homeless, suffering, and morally without
This country is in the midst of an ethical drought

Drugs, gangs violence you claim was your only way out
You blame injustice, discrimination, and history
When the truth is that’s HIStory yours is still a mystery
Fredrick Douglass, Maya Angelou, Grandma, and Granpa too
All of those spirits lay within you
Learn so you can open yourself up and give
Because darkness is where you live
Grab it, cherish it, embrace it, fall madly in love with it
